Very timely! We are having some challenges at preschool with our management not seeming to understand the process of emergent curriculum and wanting us to preplan for it 2 weeks in advance - and also not seeing the hugely important role that the environment plays in learning and that we play in setting up that environment. I took notes from your video to share, so thankyou!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am thrilled to be some help to you as I so enjoy your posts. It is critical that management understands and supports teachers in this kind of teaching. That is actually the next workshop I am preparing-how to support one's staff through this process. Two weeks would be hard as the play and discovery could take a completely different turn. I wouldn't have thought I'd be setting up sewing and knitting centers two weeks ago, but a wonderful book sparked a huge interest. The fine motor, spatial awareness, etc. is going to be amazing. Let's keep the dialog going on this. What kind of support are people looking for from their supervisors?
